Review by hotel critic
Staying at Houseboat-Amsterdam was a unique experience that blended charm with a touch of practicality-perfect for an Irish traveler like me, seeking both comfort and serenity. The location was spot on, just a leisurely stroll from the main train station, making it super convenient to explore the city. The houseboat itself was spacious and beautifully restored, finished to a high standard. It featured a sitting area to unwind after a long day, alongside reliable Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV for some downtime. I found the price slightly steep considering the amenities were not as advertised. the absence of a dishwasher was disappointing, as that could have enhanced the overall experience. The decor had an air of understated luxury, but it felt like we were compromising on some basics for the cost. That said, the owner was gracious and easily reachable, ensuring we felt well taken care of during our short stay. While the houseboat provided comfort, one must weigh the luxury against the extravagance. If you're looking for a cozy spot with essential comforts, this houseboat might be worth considering, but be prepared to manage expectations on value versus price.
